Starting a new daycare is a big milestone – for your child and for you. It’s completely normal to feel a mixture of excitement and anxiety, and it’s just as normal for your child to need a little time to adjust. Here’s what most families experience during the first week at Studio Kids, and how you can make the transition as smooth as possible.
The Drop-Off Moment: Brief is Better
One of the most counterintuitive pieces of advice for new daycare parents: keep your goodbye short. A long, drawn-out departure can actually increase separation anxiety for young children. A warm, confident farewell – ‘I love you. I’ll see you this afternoon!’ – signals to your child that this place is safe and that you’ll be back. Our educators are experienced at helping children transition after you leave, and most settle in quickly once the morning routine begins.
What to Expect Day by Day
Days 1–2 may involve some tears – from your child, and sometimes from you. This is normal. By Days 3–4, most children begin to recognize the routine and look forward to familiar activities. By the end of Week 1, the majority of children are eagerly greeting their teachers and making their first new friends.
Stay Connected Through Procare
At Studio Kids, we use the Procare app to send real-time updates, photos, and daily reports directly to your phone. If you’re missing your child mid-morning, a quick peek at the app showing them happily building blocks or painting can make all the difference. Ask us about setting up your account on enrollment day.
